Have you submitted an application for your Veteran Award?
The Veteran Award is an adult recognition. However, tenure as a youth may be included in the total number of years registered.
After 5 years of registered service in the BSA, an adult may, upon application, receive the designation of "Veteran" provided the person agrees to live up to the Scouting obligations; to keep local Scouting authorities in the community in which residing informed as to availability of service; and further to be as active in the promotion of the cause of Scouting as circumstances and conditions permit. Service in Scouting organizations other than the BSA does not count toward veteran recognition. An individual must currently be a registered member of the BSA in order to receive the award.
Scouters desiring recognition as 5-80 year veterans (with intervals of 5 years) must have maintained an active registered relationship for the required number of years, paying the annual registration fee. The records of the national office and local council shall determine eligibility. The periods of service claimed for veteran recognition need not be continuous.
Applications are available online or can be obtained from the Council Office. Please forward completed applications to the Washington Crossing Council office or email AnnaMarie.Pepper@scouting.org
Veteran Awards are usually presented at the Council Recognition Dinner to be held on Saturday, March 11, 2017. If you wish to receive your award at a different event, please attach a note to your application with instructions.
Awards for 5 to 20 years are processed through the Council Office. Awards for 25 years or more are processed through the National Office after the application is received at the Council Office. The processing time for Veteran Awards of 25 years or more is 3 to 4 weeks.
