Project Trailblazer
It’s an exciting time to be involved in Scouting! Now that the challenges of the last few years are in the rear-view mirror, it’s time to double down on growing Scouting’s impact in the community. To do that effectively, an action plan – with its roots in volunteer feedback – has been developed and adopted by the Washington Crossing Council.
Project: Trailblazer is the name of this special initiative of the council, and a two-year action plan for the Washington Crossing Council to expand the council’s customer focus and sense of team as we all work together to grow Scouting in the local area.
In the first half of 2023, a study committee carefully reviewed feedback from nearly 150 WCC unit-level Scouters and consulted with those doing planning work for a few key council projects. In the end, the committee put forth 28 recommendations which form Project: Trailblazer. Each recommendation is rooted in the council’s desire to support strong and healthy units that serve our Scouts and their families.
The plan includes 8 areas of focus, which are listed below:
- Calendar
- Communication
- Program
- Finances
- Volunteers
- Membership
- Connection
- Future Vision
The full text of each of the recommendations is available below. The summary sheet outlines the specific recommendations and the preliminary timeline. Just like any plan, there will be challenges related to its execution – probably none greater than the timeline. There may be resets along the way, but the whole organization is very committed on delivering on what the project embodies.
